July's Icon of the Month is the balti dish - not because it has received lots of votes (it hasn't!), but because it has been viewed more than any other icon on the website. Probably invented in Birmingham, the balti dish is synonymous with the multicultural traditions of the region. Previous Icons of the Month include the Portland Vase, the Sultanganj Buddha, John Baskerville, A Common Humanity, The Spitfire, The Bournville Village Trust, The Lunar Society, The Iron Bridge, Ann Hathaway’s Cottage, and The Wedgwood Slave Medallion.
