Birmingham is home to the Warwickshire County Cricket Club and the famous Edgbaston Cricket Ground. Cricket, the quintessential English sport, also became popular across the British Empire in colonial days, and is still played with enthusiasm by other countries including the nations of South Asia and the West Indies. Cricket’s popularity helps to unite many of Birmingham’s communities and local cricket clubs abound. This enthusiasm is particularly seen during international matches at Edgbaston, where some of the most exciting one-day international and test matches were played. Warwickshire County Cricket Club shone in English cricket in the 1990s winning a number of trophies. Category: People , Place , Product Institute: Birmingham Museums and Heritage Your Comments (0)
